A patio is 80% groundwork. Dig out, sub-base, compaction and falls — get those wrong and the prettiest sandstone in the world will rock, pond and stain within two winters.
We lay Indian sandstone and porcelain paving, set falls so water runs away from the house rather than towards it, and point properly so the joints hold. Steps, edging and the transition between patio and lawn all get thought about rather than improvised.
It pairs naturally with the rest of what we do — plenty of our patio jobs come with sleeper beds, new fencing or turf as part of the same visit, which saves you coordinating separate trades.
